Our Story

The United Schools Insurance Program (USIP) was formed in 1985 with 34 founding members.  Currently, the USIP has over 150 members who enjoy outstanding claims handling, risk management and account education services, along with the broadest and most comprehensive property and liability insurance coverage available.

The USIP purchases an Aggregate Stop Loss policy to protect the program assets against any abnormal frequency or severity of claims in one year.  The coverage eliminates the risk of having any retroactive assessments, if the liability losses exceed the amount budgeted and collected from the membership.

The program is member-owned, with a board of directors elected by the membership. The Board contracts with a third party administrator to oversee the day-to-day administration of the program.

The overall goal of the USIP is to keep rates affordable for its members while providing excellent services to help keep losses to a minimum. This philosophy allows members to keep more of their money in the district where it can do the most good.
